Our School Day
Our doors open at 8.45am and our children enter the classrooms through external doors where they will be greeted by their teacher and work will be set out ready for their day to begin. All classes (except Ladybird class) will enter the school via the back entrance. At 8:45 they will be met by a member of staff at the back gate who will welcome the children into school. Our Ladybird class will enter via the front entrance where parents and carers can say goodbye to their children on the front playground before the children enter the classroom.
Break time for the children is between 10:30-10:45.
Lunch time is for the children is between 12:00-13:00.
The school day ends at 15:15. At the end of the school day, teachers will lead the children out to the back entrance where parents and carers will be waiting to collect the children. If your child goes on the bus or to afterschool club, they will be taken directly to their next destination by a member of staff. Ladybird class will leave school via the front entrance. If your child is going home with someone other than their parent or carer, please inform the class teacher or school office.
Our children get to school in a number of ways:
- By foot, bike or scooter: Children are encouraged to walk, cycle or scooter to school where possible and safe. There are special bike and scooter racks in the playground.
- By car: The school has its own car park which is shared with the Pre-School. It is quite small so please try to walk or cycle if possible. It is adjacent to the school field and you can walk into the school and Pre-School directly from the car park without having to go back onto East Street.
- By bus or taxi: Buses run from the outlying villages from as far as Kimmeridge into the school. Your child may also be eligible for a taxi to school if there is not an appropriate bus on a particular route. Please contact us for more information.
Parking around the school is limited. The school's own car park is only for staff cars and cannot be accessed by parents as we use this as an entrance into the school and must safeguard our children.
Parents are able to drop their children off at the village hall at 8:35 where a staff member walks them to the school gates. This is our 'park and stride' initiative to support our parents with dropping their children off at school.
