2026 - 2027

Autumn  term 1

This term we have welcomed 6 new children to are setting, they have all settled in very well.

We will continue to do alternate Tuesday mornings at forest school and the library along with cooking on a Thursday mornings.

The children have been really busy this term exploring both the inside and outside environment and making new friends. They have painted pictures of themselves to up around the room and explored colours.

We have been working on helping children with their gross motor skills and core strength, we have done this through starting to learn the animal positions from kinetic letters (this helps with posture when mark making),

When possible, taking the children out into our local environment for walks around the castle and visits to the park, again supporting children's gross motor skills as well as having fun. We have also been using the equipment in the hall every Friday morning for jumping, climbing, rolling, crawling, using our arms to pull are selves along the benches and swinging.

We were recently lucky enough to visit Putlake farm at Langton, thanks to funding from the PTFA. We learnt all about the animals, we got to meet and feed the Guinea pigs,  as well as meeting very noisy chickens, donkeys, a cow and Alpacas. The staff were great with the children and did a simple quiz for the children about some of the animals.

The indoor soft play area was great for supporting the children's development of gross motor movements and it was lovely to see the children working together to climb over objects and through spaces.

we have recently also joined together with Puffins (reception/year 1) to take part with singing songs for the harvest festival at our local church. The service was brief as the older children were coming to the church after us for their Harvest festival, but the children loved singing together in front of their parents.

We are now using our new curriculum to support our planning and children's learning along with the children's current interests.
