Our Facilities

Our current school was built in 1895 to replace the old school building which now houses the Corfe Castle Royal British Legion. Our building has been extensively modernised with two new classrooms added in 1964 and a Library and Staffroom added in 1994.

In September 2013 we became a full Primary School, expanding our school to include Year 5 and 6 children  To accommodate our growth, we have had major investment in our buildings and now have fantastic facilities including a state-of-the-art-hall, new library and refurbished classrooms as well as an all-weather sports pitch and new play equipment.

Our New School Hall

Our new school hall won the building of the year award from the Architectural Society. It is very well used and we love it!

School Hall Build Our new school hall from start to finish:

The Date Stone for the New School Hall

The children worked with local artist Jonathan Sells to create the design for the date stone for the New School Hall.

When our school changed from a first school to a primary school we had some major building work carried out to accommodate all the extra children. We commissioned local artist Jonathan Sells to make us a date stone to commemorate the opening of the new school hall. Jonathan worked with the children of Bumble Bees class to plan the design of the stone. The children made clay tiles of their ideas which Jonathan then included in the final piece.

Our Outside Spaces

At Corfe Castle Primary School we currently have three hard surface playgrounds:

  • Our first playground, which is at the front of the school, has a traversing wall, table tennis table, wooden play apparatus and picnic table seating.
  • Our second playground, which is at the side of the school, is used as an early years outdoor classroom and has a water table, quiet area, reading tree, stepping logs and play house.
  • We now also have a brand new third hard surface playground on our school field. This is wonderful new asset for the school as it has given us a huge sports area which can be used all year round.

We have a large school field that is used for P.E. lessons, team games and sports day. We often use our field as a playground and the children can occasionally have their packed lunches as picnics there.

We also have a lovely wooded area which can be used for outdoor classroom activities. As an added bonus steam trains can be viewed from the field.

Sometimes guitar lessons take place under the trees.

Disabled Facilities

There is a disabled toilet available at the school and with the exception of the staff room and the conference room, all rooms are on the ground floor with level access into the building.
